The Ending

SYNOPSIS

AINE (Awn-ye) O’SHEA’s touch kills her first date. And RONAN emerges at the place it happens, Dingle Park. He touches Aine and he takes the pain away from killing the boy, Adrian.

Returning home, her aunt gives her a box filled with magical gloves that will protect others from her and a magical book for her to learn spells.

Still riddled with guilt, Aine goes to Adrian’s house to explain his disappearance, only to find his parents don’t recognize her. But what’s worse, they say they don’t have a son. Confused she makes the mistake of running through the same park and finds Ronan’s there. He seems to trap her and he lets her feel how different he is. He doesn’t burn at her touch.

Later Alana, her bff, convinces her after Aine almost sets the kitchen on fire to go for a swim. In the water, her mother, Belisama, a goddess of fire and water, transports her to Faerie. There she gives her a gift, which appears as a scar at first. It is a gift that even the gods would kill for. But to use this gift she needs to feed it with emotion and touch from mortals. If she doesn’t she’ll slip into a coma and die.

To return home Aine is pushed back with a blast from Faerie, and falls too fast from her meeting with her mother. She thinks Ronan catches her in the air, slows her descend into the ocean. It’s her uncle that rescues her and brings her home.

When Ronan appears next is after her aunt’s wedding and it’s in front of her friends. Aine confronts her aunt. Her aunt shows Aine a letter from her mom that discloses her heat is normal. Three warriors will be sent to protect her as more changes will take place. As her powers grow, dark fae will try to attack her.

On Aine’s sixteenth birthday three Fomori, water demons, seek to destroy her but three children get in the way. In an attempt to trap Aine they kidnap the children in front of a crowd of beachcombers. An invisible force field blocks the entrance to the water and it’s up to Aine to rescue them before they die. Her first legacy awakens, fire, physical blasts. It’s found in her blood. She succeeds in rescuing the children.

The children are safe and Ronan arrives after the attack and heals her still mortal body. She, unbeknown to her, shares her soul with Ronan, in an electrical exchange during the recovery of her wounds.

Ronan tells her that she must leave Ireland and come to America to train with him. Ronan has the ability to warp reality. No one will remember the attack at the beach.

As they leave she is slashed on her shoulder by one of the Fomori, poisoning her. Ronan is able to heal the wound but cannot withdraw all the poison. The book is forgotten at home. She is alone with Ronan, and their bond grows stronger, but he tries to resists her. He must. It is forbidden for him to love, the one rule given to him by the queen herself.

Arriving in Flagstaff, Arizona she begins school where she meets the other two warriors, Oisin, who has the ability of precognition, and Fionn, who has the talent of telekinesis.

Then the school becomes infested with demons that suck energy. Ronan and Oisin leave for a day to review the ancient scrolls to find a spell to remove the leeches from the school. She goes to what she’s told is a safe house but she is betrayed by the girlfriend to Fionn. Aine’s body reacts in self defense causing Clendora to hit a wall. All of Aine emotion and touch are drained and she falls into a cocoon shell where she waits for Ronan for four days. He takes her to his home where they prepare the battle against the leeches.

Once the leeches have been disbursed back to Faerie, Ronan and Aine take shelter in her barn, back home. Ronan shares his feelings with her. But then a fire breaks out in the barn. Ronan is attacked by Taranis, Irish god of thunder and storm, with help from the Fomori. Ronan is taken to a hospital where the doctors declare he is in a coma. His powers still hold as he warps reality hiding his true nature.

When Aine takes a break from visits to Ronan, she receives an unmarked package from her aunt. It warns her that she needs her book to save both human and faerie worlds. To relieve her anger and frustration she goes riding, but is thrown from her horse. The Fomori are lead to Aine by Fionn and they capture her. She is tortured and beaten. Aine is dying but using her last power, she knocks out the Fomori. Ronan saves her and kills the Fomori. He then takes her to his home.

As punishment Ronan has to face the tribunal for the deaths of the Fomori and for breaking the law of Faerie. He chose to stay with Aine and with the book, cures her body of the poison coursing through it before she dies. They together will close the wall to Faerie.
